Licensed money lender near me: why location no longer matters, and what does
A licensed money lender can serve you in any state when the process runs online. What happens where, how the signing is arranged, and how to check any lender.

People search for a licensed money lender near them for a sensible reason: it feels safer to deal with someone you could walk in and see. This guide explains what actually needs to happen in person, what does not, how we serve customers across Malaysia, and how to check a lender's licence wherever they are.
What happens where
| Step | Where it happens | What you do |
|---|---|---|
| Estimate | On this website | Use the calculator to pick an amount and tenure |
| Enquiry | Tap a button on this site; the plan is filled into the message | |
| Documents | Send photos or PDFs of the documents for your type of income | |
| Assessment and written offer | Our office, sent to you on WhatsApp | Read the offer, ask anything, decide without pressure |
| Signing and attestation | In front of an attestor | Attend the appointment with your MyKad, check every figure, sign, take your stamped copy |
| Disbursement | Your bank account | Receive the transfer to an account in your own name |
Only one row has a physical location, and it is the one the law requires: the agreement must be attested by a Commissioner for Oaths or other authorised attestor who explains it to you, and you must receive a stamped copy before the money is lent. We arrange that appointment with you once the offer is accepted. Our how it works page walks through every step.

We serve every state
Because everything up to the offer happens online, it makes no difference to us whether you are in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Johor, Penang, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Pahang, Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Perlis, Sabah or Sarawak. The rate, the fees and the process are the same everywhere, and the law that governs them is the same everywhere.
Why "near me" is not a safety check
A rented shop with a printed banner proves nothing about a licence. Scammers and illegal lenders open and close addresses constantly, and increasingly they do not bother with an address at all: a Facebook advert for "licensed money lender Klang" or "pinjaman berlesen Johor Bahru" leads to a personal WhatsApp number, a photo of someone else's licence, and a request for a processing fee or deposit to release the loan.
The check that works is the same wherever the lender is:
- Ask for the company's registered name and KPKT licence number.
- Look the company up on KPKT's list of licensed money lenders yourself.
- Verify the person messaging you, not just the company. Our customers can do that on our verify a contact page.
- Check the bank account on Semak Mule before sending anything, and never send anything before the loan is paid out.
Our guide to verifying a licensed money lender takes ten minutes and covers all of it.

When you might prefer a local lender
If you would rather sit across a desk from someone before deciding, that is a reasonable preference. Apply the same checks to that lender: licence number on KPKT's list, a company bank account, a prescribed agreement attested in front of you, and nothing paid before disbursement. Distance is not the risk; skipping those checks is.
Common questions
Do I have to travel to sign? The agreement is signed in front of an attestor. We arrange the appointment with you after you accept the offer, and we will tell you the location and what to bring.
Is a lender in another state still under KPKT? Yes. The Moneylenders Act 1951 and KPKT's licensing apply across Malaysia. There is no state where a licence is not required.
Can I borrow while working overseas? The loan is for Malaysian citizens and permanent residents with a MyKad or MyPR, assessed on income and repaid from a Malaysian bank account, and the signing happens in Malaysia. Ask us about your situation on WhatsApp.
